Is there a perfect time of day for my portrait session?
Yes, the 1-2 hours before sunset and the 1-2 hours after sunrise are the best times to shoot. You'll get the most amazing warm, glowing light during these times.
What can I expect at my photoshoot?
Although my galleries may look dreamy as if shot in the perfect conditions, shooting on location outdoors is anything BUT glamorous. Sometimes conditions are perfect and other times, they aren't always ideal. You can expect that it could either be hot, cold, or windy on the day of your shoot. Insects and itchy grass just come with the territory. I will have you run through a number poses multiple times in front of multiple scenes. I like to laugh and have fun so come with a good attitude and an extra pair of comfy shoes to walk around in and trust me.
What type of photography do you specialize in?
I specialize in engagement, weddings, Maternity, Senior Portraits, Real Estate, Corporate Headshots, Boudoir, and Lifestyle. The rates are the same. You choose your package according to how many images you want.
Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?
My mini and standard sessions are held at Elizabeth Adams Photography, located on Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay on 2 acres of beautiful backcountry where I have both indoor and outdoor studio sets. My deluxe session allows you to choose up to two locations.
What should I/we wear?
It is best to keep clothing simple. Avoid logos/prints or busy patterns. I always suggest solid colors and/or layers. In group or family photos, color coordinating is always more pleasing to the eye. Wear clothes that represent you and who you are.
What to bring?
For family and/or children photo sessions: outfit changes, a drink, or a favorite toy. Please make sure your little one(s) has been fed and had a nap before the session for a more comfortable and positive experience. Feel free to bring props (balloons, signs, etc.).
What if the weather is bad on the day of my scheduled shoot?
We'll reschedule a date and time that works for both of us.
Do I need to sign a contract?
Yes, every package requires a contract and deposit for services.
Why a 50% non-refundable deposit to book?
Your deposit and signed contract reserves the date and time agreed upon, which means that I do not make any other reservations or accept any other clients for said date and time. In the event that you cancel our agreement for any reason, all monies paid shall be retained in order to offset the loss of business.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?
Sessions can only be rescheduled. I simply ask that you contact me at least 24 hours in advance in the event that you need to reschedule your session.
When should I book my wedding?
You can book your wedding as far as 18 months in advance and I usually book up for the current year by or before June.
How many hours of coverage do I need?
I can help you determine how many hours of coverage you'll need by; the size of your wedding party, expected guests, whether or not you'll want getting ready shots, first look shots and if you'll be wanting pictures after the first dances.
You've never shot at my venue, should I find a photographer who has?
Many venues are firsts for us. We try to visit every local venue and for out of town venues, we'll go online and get an idea of what we'll be working with which is often more than sufficient. On the day of your wedding, my second photographer and I will arrive about 30 minutes early to scout the locations within the venue so that we know exactly what camera settings to use and how the available light might evolve throughout the day. You can rest assured that we have plenty of experience and confidence to handle any venue.
What if we've already had our engagement pictures taken?
I will apply a half hour to your wedding day coverage.
Do you come to the rehearsal?
While the rehearsals are not critical, we do try to make every rehearsal. Out of town rehearsals are a bit more challenging to attend due to the travel.
What if something happens to you before my wedding?
I have never had to cancel my end of a wedding agreement. However, if something were to happen, I would refund your deposit.
When will I receive my wedding photos?
Weddings usually take 10-15 business days to complete. You'll be provided a link where you'll have access to your images for 2 weeks in a private online gallery. You'll be able to share your gallery with friends and family, download your images and even purchase prints online.
When will I receive my session photos?
The proofs will be ready to preview in an online gallery 2-3 business days after your scheduled session. You'll choose your favorite images for editing. Your collection will then be ready to view, share and download within 5 business days.
What does your editing entail?
Background, foreground clean-up, softening/smoothening of the skin, blemish/mole/scar removal, color and exposure correction, cropping if necessary, teeth and sclera eye whitening, iris enhancement and artistic accents where I deem necessary. How many pictures will I receive in my wedding gallery?
I aim to produce quality images over quantity. The number of images varies depending on how many hours of coverage you decide on and the logistics of your day. The average 6 hr. wedding gallery usually consists of 400+ images. Pictures will be enhanced, touched up, some fully edited, and all high-resolution JPEG. You'll have access to your online gallery within a few days of your session/event where you'll be able to view your teasers until your entire album is ready.
How long will my images be available to me in the online gallery?
Your gallery will be available to download/save, share, and order prints from for up to 2 weeks after your entire gallery is complete. After that time, they will be archived and there will be a $50 fee to regain access for an additional week.
Are you insured?
Are there any additional charges from the package prices?
No added "sitting/session" fees, assistant fees or editing fees. The package price includes the photo shoot or event coverage, editing, your private online gallery containing your high-resolution JPEG images and a print release for you to make unlimited personal copies for your family and friends whenever and wherever you choose. If you decide that you want extra images than your session package includes, it's $15 per additional image.
Do you offer prints?
If you are interested in having prints made, you can conveniently order them directly from your online gallery or take them to a lab of your choice. The price for prints will vary depending upon quantity and size and is not included in the package prices listed.
Do you shoot baptisms and quinceaneras?
Absolutely. If you have an occasion/event in mind and want a quote, please contact me.
Will there be a second photographer at my wedding?
Yes, all wedding and event packages include a second photographer.
Do you work with a videographer?
I currently do not offer a corresponding videography package but I am in the process of teaming up with a videographer.
Can I give you a "shot list" for my wedding?
Due to the unpredictable and uncontrollable nature of weddings, I will not accept a "shot list" or a "checklist" and I cannot guarantee specific shots. My goal is to capture every possible significant moment of your wedding day as it’s presented to me. For example, It's expected that I capture the first look, the ring exchange, the kiss, the bouquet throw, etc. Therefore, I do not need a checklist for what is expected and for what may hinder my creativity. I will, however, accept a list of family (formal) portrait combinations since every family is unique.
This is ultimately up to you. Before the ceremony allows you to check one more thing off the day’s itinerary early on and more importantly, allows you and the wedding party a chance to enjoy the cocktail hour and mingle with your guests. On the other hand, shooting after the ceremony (dependent on the time) could allow you to take advantage of the setting sun and its softer light.
How long do the formal portraits take & how many combinations should I have?
Each family combination takes about 2 min. to gather and arrange a successful shot given that everyone is present, ready and cooperating. As a guideline, you will need 30-35 min. for 15 formal combos. To keep everything on track and less chaotic I highly recommend keeping family formal combinations limited to immediate family members/VIP and avoid redundant combinations. It's best to start with the biggest group when creating your combination list.
How long do the wedding party and bride and groom portraits take?
Dependent on the accessibility of locations at your venue this could range anywhere from 40 min. to an hour.
What style best describes your photography?
My vision is flexible and constantly evolving, however, I do lean toward the classic style. You can expect that your images will be timeless and of the same quality as the images featured in my galleries.
Can family & friends Take pictures at the wedding?
Of course. I just ask that they turn off their flashes and not swarm the family and wedding party portraits because I need all eyes on me in your images.
Will your watermark be on my final images?
Never. Your final images will not have a watermark on them. I may put a watermark on the teasers for social media/sharing purposes.
What are your travel fees outside your normal service areas in CA?
I travel to the surrounding areas of Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Fresno, Porterville, and Arroyo Grande for weddings at no additional cost. For weddings outside of my service areas, the only additional costs clients are responsible for are as follows:
1) Rental car and/or round trip flights
2) Rental car mileage - $1.00/mile round trip
3) Lodging accommodations dependent on distance and/or length of the event.
