Is there a perfect time of day for my portrait session?
Yes, the 1-2 hours before the sun sets is the best time to shoot. You'll get the most amazing warm, glowing light during this time. For beach sessions, at this time the wind will have died down, making it much easier to get flattering shots without constantly having to worry about what your hair and clothing are doing.
What type of photography do you specialize in?
I specialize in engagement, weddings, Events, Family, Maternity, Senior Portraits, Real Estate, Headshots, Branding, Boudoir, and Lifestyle. Whether you want family photos, product shots, a modeling portfolio, the rates are the same. You choose your package according to how many images you want.
Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?
Portrait sessions can be on-location or at Elizabeth Adams Photography, located on Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay on 2 acres of beautiful backwoods where we have both indoor and outdoor studio sets, For sessions and events, I prefer to use available light and an external flash when necessary.
What should I/we wear?
It is best to keep clothing simple. Avoid logos/prints or busy patterns. I always suggest solid colors and/or layers. In group or family photos, color coordinating is always more pleasing to the eye. Wear clothes that represent you and who you are and feel free to bring a change of clothing.
What to bring?
For family and/or children photo sessions: outfit changes, a drink, or favorite toy. Please make sure your little one(s) has been fed and had a nap before the session for a more comfortable and positive experience. Feel free to bring props (balloons, signs, etc.).
What if the weather is bad on the day of my scheduled shoot?
Please factor in contingencies when booking your outdoor portrait session. P.S. cloudy days make for spectacular portraits.
Do I/we need to sign a contract?
Yes, every package requires a contract and deposit for services. I email all potential clients my contract with response to their inquiry.
Why a 50% non-refundable deposit to book?
Your deposit reserves the date and time agreed upon, which means that I do not make any other reservations or accept any other clients for said date and time. In the event that you cancel our agreement for any reason, all monies paid shall be retained in order to offset the loss of business.
What if I need to reschedule my session?
Weddings cannot be rescheduled, only sessions can be rescheduled and they must be rescheduled within the same week originally scheduled. I simply ask that you contact me at least 24 hours in advance in the event that you need to reschedule your session.
When should I book my wedding?
You can book your wedding as far as 18 months in advance and I usually book up for the current year by or before June.
What if something happens to you before my wedding?
I have never had to cancel my end of a wedding agreement. However, if something were to happen, I have a backup plan and options for clients. Details are disclosed in the agreement.
When will I receive my photos?
Weddings usually take 10-15 business days and sessions take approximately 1 week. You'll be provided a link and password where you'll have access to your images for 2 weeks in a private online gallery. You'll be able to share your gallery with friends and family, download your images and even purchase prints online.
How many pictures will I receive of my wedding?
The average wedding gallery usually consists of 400+ images. This, of course, varies depending on how many hours of coverage you decide on and the logistics of your day. Pictures will be fully edited, some offered in black & white and all high resolution. You'll have access to your online gallery within a few days of your session/event where you'll be able to view your teasers until your entire album is ready.
How long will my images be available to me in the online gallery?
Your gallery will be available to download/save, share, and order prints from for up to 2 weeks after your entire gallery is complete. After that time, they will be archived and to gain access for an additional week, there is a $50 fee.
Are you insured?
Are there any additional charges from the package prices?
No added sitting fees, assistant fees or editing fees. The package price includes the photo shoot or event coverage, editing, your private online gallery containing your high-resolution images and a written release for you to make unlimited personal copies for your family and friends. I do retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for commercial purposes.
Do you offer prints?
The price listed includes session/event time and your images in an online gallery. If you are interested in having prints made, you can conveniently order them separately and directly from your online gallery.
Do you shoot baptisms and quinceaneras?
Absolutely. If you have an occasion/event in mind and have questions, please contact me.
Will there be a second photographer at my wedding?
Yes, all wedding and event packages include my second photographer/assistant.
Do you work with a videographer?
I currently do not offer a corresponding videography package but I am in the process of teaming up with a videographer. Check back for details.
Can I give you a "shot list" for my wedding?
Due to the unpredictable and uncontrollable nature of weddings, I will not accept a "shot list" or a "checklist". My goal is to capture every possible significant moment of your wedding day as it’s presented to me. For example, It's expected that I capture the first look, the ring exchange, the kiss, the bouquet throw, etc. Therefore, I do not need a checklist for what is expected and for what may hinder my creativity. I will, however, accept a list of family portrait combinations since every family is unique.
This is ultimately up to you, but I prefer doing these shots before the ceremony. This allows you to check one more thing off the day’s "to-do list" early on and more importantly, to allow you and the wedding party a chance to enjoy the cocktail hour and mingle with your guests. On the other hand, shooting after the ceremony (dependent on the time) could allow you to take advantage of the setting sun and its softer light.
What style best describes your photography?
My vision is flexible and constantly evolving and because each wedding and client is unique, requiring different techniques to achieve a look/feel/mood, I would be doing my clients a disservice to limit myself to a specific style. You can expect that your images will be timeless and of the same quality as the images featured in my galleries.
Can family & friends Take pictures at the wedding?
Of course. I just ask that they turn off their flashes and not swarm the family and bridal party portraits because I need all eyes on me in your images. However, I do not allow anyone to tag along for the couple's portraits for privacy and because an audience is too distracting.
Will your watermark be on my final images?
Never. Your final images will not have my watermark on them. I may put my watermark on the teasers for social media/sharing purposes.
What are your travel fees outside your normal service areas in CA?
I travel 90 miles (total) for weddings and events around Granite Bay and Fresno at no additional cost. For weddings outside my service areas, package prices remain the same, the ONLY additional costs clients are responsible for are as follows:
1) Rental car fee plus mileage - $1.00/mile round trip
2) Hotel accommodations dependent on length and distance of event (approximate total starts at $79).
